$50,000 SCRATCH WINNER PLANS TO START NONPROFIT TO BENEFIT HOMELESS COMMUNITY

Pamela Jarrell, a Pasco resident, can now start the nonprofit foundation she’s always dreamed of thanks to a recent $50,000 Scratch win. The winner purchased her winning “$50,000 CROSSWORD EXTRA PLAY” ticket at Albertsons (1330 N 20th Ave, Pasco, WA 99301) on Sept. 19, 2017.

“I live near the Tri-City Union Gospel Mission, and see the need the downtown community has for warm blankets, clothes, hats and scarves as the weather starts getting colder,” said Jarrell. “I want to use my prize to start a foundation to supply those in need with the necessary resources to make the cold months more comfortable.”

Jarrell told Lottery officials right before she scratched her winning ticket, she gave a homeless man she knew a quilt directly off her bed because the blanket she recently gave him was stolen. When she realized she’d won, she knew she wanted to use her money to continue to help her community.

Proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, providing grants to college students statewide. To learn more about Washington’s Lottery, its beneficiaries and to review all up-to-date winning numbers, please visit www.walottery.com.
