WEEKLY GROCERY SHOPPING TURNS INTO $280,000 WIN FOR ABERDEEN WOMAN

A weekly grocery trip got a bit more exciting for a woman from Aberdeen when she scanned a Hit 5 ticket and discovered she’d won $280,000. The woman purchased her ticket from Safeway for the drawing on Saturday, Sept. 17 (221 W Heron St, Aberdeen, WA 98520).

“I thought my ticket read $280 because I didn’t have my glasses on,” said the winner. After putting them on, she scanned the ticket and realized it was actually worth $280,000.

The winner told Washington’s Lottery officials she and her husband are most excited about the win because they can now afford a down payment on a new home. The winner and her husband have been eyeing a bigger house with five acres of land, and this Lottery win will make their dreams come true sooner than they expected.

Proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, providing grants to college students statewide. To learn more about Washington’s Lottery, its beneficiaries and to review all up-to-date winning numbers, please visit www.walottery.com.
