COLLEGE STUDENT WINS $150,000 WHILE VISITING FAMILY IN SEATTLE

An out-of-state college student returned to Washington this week to claim a $150,000 Hit 5 prize from the July 16 drawing, which he won while visiting his family in Seattle. The winner purchased his ticket from a local Fred Meyer (13000 Lake City Way NE, Seattle, WA 98125).

“I had no intention of buying the ticket when I walked into the store,” said the winner. “But as I was walking out I figured, ‘let’s play today.’”

A former Seattle resident, the winner is now a college student living in New York, so he plans to use a portion of the money to pay off student loans. Then, he said he plans to cross “visit Paris” off his bucket list, as it’s been a longtime travel dream of his to visit the Eifel Tower. Any remaining money will be put in the bank.

The winner also told Washington’s Lottery officials he plans to take his family to breakfast to celebrate his win.

Proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, providing grants to college students statewide. To learn more about Washington’s Lottery, its beneficiaries and to review all up-to-date winning numbers, please visit www.walottery.com.
