OLYMPIA – With St. Patrick’s Day upon us, Washington’s Lottery is sharing its “Luckiest Stores” – retail locations that have sold the most Scratch tickets with prizes worth $1,000 or more in the previous calendar year. Washington’s Lottery has released a “Luckiest Stores” list for six regions around the state: Tri-Cities, Puget Sound, Olympic Peninsula, Eastern Washington, Southwest Washington, and Central Washington.

With eight big Scratch prizes, the Fred Meyer located at 800 NE Tenney Rd in Vancouver earned the top spot on the “Luckiest Store” list in Southwest Washington in 2017.

When winners from the Southwest Washington Region were asked how they plan to spend the money, here is what they shared.

  • A Vancouver resident told Lottery officials he scratched his winning $50,000 ticket while sitting at his desk at work and was so excited he had to share the news with his client, who was sitting with him. The winner plans to use his prize money to start a college fund for his two young children.
  • Another $50,000 winner told Lottery officials she was in such disbelief about her win that she returned to the store to have the manager double check her ticket. The woman, a cook for the local school district, plans to buy a new truck and put the remaining prize money toward a new roof for her home.
