Washington’s Lottery Announces its List of Luckiest Stores for Winners

With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, Washington’s Lottery is helping players across the state find their pot of gold. Each year Washington’s Lottery names its “Luckiest Stores” – retailers that sold the most winning tickets of prizes worth $1,000 or more in the past year – from six regions around the state: Puget Sound, Olympic Peninsula, Tri-Cities, central Washington, southwest Washington and eastern Washington.

In central Washington, both Fred Meyer, at 1206 North 40th Ave. in Yakima, and the Safeway, at 510 Grand Rd. in East Wenatchee, tied for the title of the “Luckiest Store.” Both locations sold the most tickets of prizes worth $1,000 or more in 2011.

Rosauers Food & Drug on South 72nd St. in Yakima made its debut on the list this year with a tie for third place. “Our store is so lucky because we have great customers!” exclaimed the store manager, Jeff Godlake. “We know almost all of our customers by name. We had a customer who won $10,000 last year and found out in the store! We were all so happy for him.”

Rounding out the top 10 retailers in central Washington are:

  • Fred Meyer at 1206 North 40th Ave. in Yakima had 8 big wins
